Credited with being one of the firsts to shoot The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, Terry O’Neill rose to stardom in his own right by chronicling the emerging faces of film, fashion, and music who would go on to define the freewheeling 1960’s era in London. Actress Rachel Welch was one of O’Neill’s muses, thanks to her unique film persona, which made her an icon for decades. Welch’s portrayal of a strong female character served as a launchpad that broke the mold of the archetypal sex symbol in films. The photographer’s image clearly plays with the complex roles of women in this fascimating image.
