Colonies of microbes provided the unlikely inspiration for this eye-catching spherical vase. Artisans in Oregon cast the vase by hand using plaster, then layered resin inside to make it waterproof. Custom-mixed pigments and a unique stippling and dyeing technique give the vase its distinctive palette and irregular pattern, which is accentuated by scores of petite plaster protrusions. No two Elyse Graham vases are exactly alike, but each is beautifully intriguing.
